Springfield Resources
Where to Find Other Resources: The resources listed here by no means reflect the many groups that are available in Greene County.
Two good sources for finding other resources are: The Directory of Nonprofit Clubs, Agencies, and Organizations in the Springfield Metropolitan Area, published by the Springfield-Greene County Library. It contains over 850 organizations, clubs, agencies and support groups in the Greene County area. The Directory can be checked out at your local library or you can view it online at: http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org/services/directory.cfm
Community Connection: a project of the University of Missouri Extension, has search capabilities for resources. www.communityconnection.org/index.jsp
ABUSE, NEGLECT OR EXPLOITATION: Abuse
Abuse can be physical and emotional, such as ridiculing, threats, insults, or keeping a person isolated from the love and support of friends or family. Exploitation, or having someone take advantage of you emotionally or financially is, also, abuse. Abuse can be inflicted by another person or by oneself, which is called self-abuse. Self-abuse or neglect can happen when a person is depressed, suffers from the beginning stages of dementia, or is physically unable to take care of his or her own needs.
